Ingredients And Notes

To make air fryer crispy chicken legs you will need the following ingredients.

  • Chicken legs: You can use drumsticks or thighs or a mix of both. I recommend using skin on and bone in chicken legs for the best results. They have more flavor and moisture than skinless and boneless ones.
  • Oil: You only need a little bit of oil to coat the chicken legs before seasoning them. You can use any oil that has a high smoke point such as vegetable oil, canola oil, or avocado oil.
  • Seasonings: You can use any seasonings that you like to flavor your chicken legs. Some of my favorites are salt black pepper garlic powder onion powder paprika cumin, oregano, and thyme. You can also add some cayenne pepper or red pepper flakes for some heat.
  • Parsley: This is optional but I like to sprinkle some chopped parsley over the chicken legs after they are cooked for some freshness and color.

Some notes on the ingredients:

  • Make sure that your chicken legs are dry before seasoning them. Pat them with paper towels to remove any excess moisture. This will help them crisp up better in the air fryer.
  • If you want to make your chicken legs more flavorful you can marinate them in a ziplock bag with some oil and seasonings for up to 24 hours in the refrigerator. However, this is not necessary for this recipe.
  • If you want to make your chicken legs more tender, you can bring them in a saltwater solution for up to 4 hours in the refrigerator. However, this is not necessary for this recipe.
